Traditional British pub cuisine

"The Trent Lock" in Nottingham, England, is a picturesque country inn that belongs to the renowned Vintage Inns chain and is distinguished by its idyllic location along a historic waterway. The name of the restaurant refers to its proximity to Trent Lock, a significant junction where the River Trent, the River Soar, and the Erewash Canal converge – a place that plays an important geographical as well as historical role, situated at the borders of three counties: Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, and Derbyshire. The building itself exudes traditional British charm, featuring cozy fireplaces, rustic wooden beams, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Notably, there is an expansive garden area perfect for outdoor dining, offering stunning views of the surrounding waterways. The restaurant is also dog-friendly, making it a popular destination for walkers and nature lovers.

Dog-friendly restaurant Nottingham

Culinary-wise, "The Trent Lock" focuses on classic British pub cuisine refined with seasonal accents and high-quality ingredients. A highlight is the "Beef & Red Wine Lasagne," a hearty dish that impresses with its rich red wine sauce and tender beef, perfect for chilly days. The "Signature Burger," enhanced with smoky BBQ brisket, is also a favorite, celebrated for its juicy texture. For a starter or to share, the "Honey-Baked Whole Camembert" is recommended, a creamy cheese drizzled with honey and served with fresh bread – a delight for all the senses. The dessert menu also offers treats like the "Mini Bakewell Sponge Pudding," served with warm vanilla sauce, providing a sweet contrast to the hearty main dishes. The kitchen emphasizes local produce and freshness, which underscores the authentic character of the dishes.

The drink selection is equally thoughtful and diverse. "The Trent Lock" offers a range of well-kept cask ales for beer enthusiasts, along with a collection of wines that perfectly complement the dishes. For cocktail fans, there are handcrafted creations that vary by season, while non-alcoholic options are also plentiful and flavorful. The bar is well-stocked and invites guests to unwind and enjoy the evening – whether in the garden on a beautiful day or by the fireplace during the colder months.

LOVED this pub along the water. Beautiful garden full of outside tables and lively swans and birds. The staff was lovely. Meghan was our server and she took good care of us.

Lovely pub with seating inside and outside. Had a pork belly which took over an hour to arrive. It wasn’t cooked properly, very soft on top and not crispy 🤮

Booking on the app was easy, although we did have to confirm that one of our party had a nut/seed allergy. So, surprised to seeds on the first course. Otherwise, lunch was excellent with an excellent standard of food and generous portions. Service was exceptional and the atmosphere relaxed. Great experience.

What a wonderful pub and the food is very good. The service was very good but slow as the lady was on her own. Must try the fish pie, the best fish pie we tasted

Love nothing more that a stroll down the canal to the Trent Lock. Nice pub whether you are sat inside or out. Good drink selection but found the food quality lacking lately. Menu options seldom change with very limited vegetarian/ vegan options. Ordered a trio of bar snacks last time- cheesy garlic bread lacked both garlic butter and cheese, the halloumi fries were nice but the chipotle jam had been watered down into a tasteless runny liquid which dripped straight off the cheese fries and the chorizo was very salty. All in all disappointed. Will think twice before ordering food here again.

The situation of this establishment is lovely as is the interior . However the Indulgent Lasagne that my sister and I had the misfortune to order was appalling . Never in my 72 years have I been served up such a terrible meal .There was a layer of pasta followed by a thin tomatoey looking sauce that contained no beef and was in fact just slop . Followed then by another layer of pasta with cheese on top . If you go to this Inn to eat order the pie of the day if you can get one avoid the Indulgent Lasagne like the plague
